Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul

The Carlyle Johnson Machine Company offers maintenance, repair and overhaul  services on all its clutches and brakes. Our full time staff of trained service technicians will evaluate your clutch or brake, recommend servicing or replacement with a new assembly and then perform overhaul tasks as directed by you. You will then receive your repaired clutch/brake or a replacement clutch or brake from the factory in like-new operating condition.

How do I return a clutch for evaluation?

To begin the process, contact the Repair Department at Carlyle Johnson. The sales service agent will request information as to the model, serial number and urgency of your requirements. The sales agent will discuss evaluation fees, estimated repair time and other estimated costs that may apply to you repair. You will then be assigned a Returned Goods Authorization (RGA) for warranty items or a Repair Authorization (RPR) for non-warenty items. This number must be placed on the packing slip with the returned clutch or brake. The clutch or brake should be shipped to the following address:

The Carlyle Johnson Machine Company
291 Boston Turnpike

Bolton, CT 06043
Ref. RGA#_________
Ref. RPR#_________

What will the evaluation consist of?

Once your clutch or brake is received at the Carlyle Johnson facility, a qualified service technician will evaluate your clutch or brake. The technician will disassemble the unit and inspect each component for wear and/or damage. In some cases physical testing may be required to determine the extent of the wear and/or damage to the components. Upon finishing the inspection, the technician will write a report and forward it to a sales service agent. The sales service agent will write a formal quote including the evaluation fee, repair parts, labor and estimated delivery for your clutch or brake. We will also quote a new assembly so that you can compare the repair cost versus the replacement cost and the estimated delivery times. Once we have received your authorization to proceed the repair work will be done.

In some instances our customers purchase new clutches or brakes and then send the field unit back to us for repair in order to have a spare clutch or brake on their shelves.
